Workflows Working Group

The BIRN Workflows Working Group (WWG) designs, supports, validates and shares BIRN’s capabilities for computationally efficient, portable and graphical workflows representing advanced computational data analysis protocols.  There are a number of use cases which can be elegantly solved using pipeline workflows. These include brain mapping and computational neuroscience, biomedical imaging, informatics and genetic protocols.

The WWG provides expertise and infrastructure for developing, deploying and executing diverse arrays of pipeline workflows using the following computational environments: LONI Pipeline, Galaxy and Taverna.

The aim of the BIRN WWG effort is to provide reusable computational protocols that enable high-throughput data analysis, facilitate collaborative research, and promote interoperability between diverse datasets, software tools and web-services.

Examples of the available graphical workflows are available at these sites: BIRN, UCLA and MyExperiment.org.
